I have arrived at a place in my life where all that matters is how I focus my attention. If I focus on love, I get expansion. If I focus on fear or its derivatives, I get contraction. I choose love. This is why I chant. These chants create an energy that fills me with light. Or perhaps it would be better to say that these chants connect with and enhance the light already in me. The same goes for you, if you choose love. The light of which I speak needs an opening from which to emerge. The chanting, the repetition of the names of god, creates that opening. BOOM, it is there. Or perhaps it works a bit differently and approaches you gradually, building from chant to chant until there is no separation from your own divinity. Most chants that I offer are sung in Sanskrit, the ancient yogic language of India. My understanding and my experience is that Sanskrit is a holy language and the repetition of the sounds creates a vibration that is, for me, best described as integrating. That’s really all I want, to be integrated with the rhythm, vibration, and sound of the divine. That is also my prayer for you. Oh, and it turns out that the names of God are our own names, and we can identify and connect with the consciousness they imply. So, if you choose to sing, you are simply doing a little energy dance. To sing, you must breathe, and on the breath rides the light. To get the most out of your singing, you must take the breath into the abdomen. Simultaneous to the arrival of the breath is the arrival of the light. So, whenever you breathe with intention, you bathe the body in light. Simultaneous to the arrival of the light is the arrival of healing. Healing of all sorts on all levels. This is why I chant. These chants are, of course, derived from the Hindu faith. I am not Hindu, nor do you have to be Hindu, in order to sing these names of God. In fact, because this is all about energy, all you have to do is decide to open your heart and the vibrations will begin to align you with that which is greater than all of us. There is nothing to fear here, and, in fact, there is great love to be discovered. When we come together, open our hearts, and sing from that place of openness, we are co-creators of divinity. Such joy it is to sit in that energy, even if only for a few hours! If you decide to chant with us, I promise you will bathe in the light. In addition to the Hindu chants, we also sing some Gospel and Buddhist chants. As I said, it is about the energy, and lo and behold, the Divine energy is not prejudiced or judgmental. It is all one. We are all one. Jesus, true to his teaching, loves Krishna and Buddha. There are no wars amongst divinity, there is only divine energy, and it is within all of us. All we have to do is remember and reconnect. On my journey, one of the discoveries I made is that the mind is everywhere. It ruled virtually everything in my life. With mind comes thought and with thought comes emotion. Invariably, then, there is ego. Since thoughts, emotions, and ego were all created by the mind, they have a birth, existence, and death. As such, they are temporary. I decided to focus on that which is eternal. The recitation of mantra has helped mitigate the influence of mind and ego. These chants are mantras that are imbued with the energy of the divine. Thus, when I chant, mind becomes integrated into that which is beyond birth, existence, and death. The illusion of separation is shattered, if only for a moment. The result is peace and it is a peace that is bigger than anything I have ever known. This is why I chant. Come join us! Blessings |
